Wink and Sandy on the Newlywed Game

Could be fun: Original host Bob Eubanks will return to preside over a special charity episode of The Newlywed Game on GSN (the Game Show Network) featuring game show legends Wink Martindale, Monty Hall and Peter Marshall with their wives. The episode will premiere May 18 at 6 p.m. ET/PT, with an encore airing at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Of course, these folks are hardly newlyweds. Wink has been married to Sandy for 34 years, Monty has been married to Marilyn for 63 years, and Peter has been married to Laurie for 20 years.

BOB EUBANKS RETURNS TO HOST SPECIAL EPISODE OF
GSN’s “THE NEWLYWED GAME” ON MAY 18;

FELLOW GAME SHOW ICONS WINK MARTINDALE, MONTY HALL, PETER MARSHALL AND THEIR WIVES SERVING AS THE CONTESTANTS

Santa Monica, CA – April 15, 2010 - GSN (Game Show Network) announced today that Bob Eubanks will return to host a history-making special episode of GSN's THE NEWLYWED GAME, with game show legends Wink Martindale (TIC-TAC-DOUGH), Monty Hall (LET'S MAKE A DEAL), Peter Marshall (HOLLYWOOD SQUARES) and their wives serving as the "newlywed" contestants. The episode will premiere Tuesday, May 18 at 6:00 PM (ET/PT), with an encore airing at 9:00 PM (ET/PT).

This marks the second time this year Eubanks has hosted GSN's modern version of the game show classic, which is normally helmed by Carnie Wilson and begins its third season on Monday, April 19 on GSN. On Jan. 7, 2010, Eubanks hosted a special edition featuring Wilson and her family as the celebrity contestants.

Hardly newlyweds, Martindale, Hall and Marshall will be grilled on their marriages, with the questions designed to see how well each couple knows each other. During each round of questions, a spouse attempts to guess his or her mate's answers to questions about their relationship. For these couples, that's a lot of history-Wink has been married to Sandy for 34 years, Monty has been married to Marilyn for 63 years, and Peter has been married to Laurie for 20 years.

The celebrity couple scoring the most points in this special "game show icons" episode will win $10,000 for a charity (or charities) of their choice, and the remaining two couples will each earn $2,500 for their charities. The Martindales are playing for Dream Factory, a non-profit organization granting dreams to children with critical or chronic illnesses. The Halls are competing for Variety, the Children's Charity and the Jewish Home for the Aging. The Marshalls' chosen charities are Lange Foundation; Actors and Others for Animals; and Animal Alliance.

"I've hosted THE NEWLYWED GAME in five different decades but never an episode like this!" quips Eubanks. "This is the first time I've had a chance to work with my peers, who also happen to be good friends. How fun that it's part of a history-making special. It truly takes the joy this series has brought me for so many years to an entirely different level."

Eubanks was the original host of THE NEWLYWED GAME on ABC from 1966 until 1974. The show returned in syndication with Eubanks as host from 1977 until 1980; again from 1985 through 1988; and again from 1997 through 1999. When Eubanks returned to the NEWLYWED podium for GSN earlier this year, he became the first game show host in television history to have hosted the same show in five different decades.

Wink Martindale-who currently stars in GSN's hidden camera game show INSTANT RECALL-has hosted 20 network, national cable and syndicated TV game shows, and is best known for the classic TIC-TAC-DOUGH. Since starting his game show career with WHAT'S THAT SONG, he also hosted TRIVIAL PURSUIT, CAN YOU TOP THIS, GAMBIT, HIGH ROLLERS and DEBT.

Monty Hall's philanthropic endeavors have raised more than $1 billion for various charities. He hosted the long-running hit game show, LET'S MAKE A DEAL, which he also co-created. He and Marilyn are the parents of Tony Award-winning actress Joanna Gleason, TV executive Sharon Hall, and TV producer Richard Hall.

Peter Marshall hosted the EmmyR Award-winning HOLLYWOOD SQUARES for more than 15 years. He also hosted the game show ALL STAR BLITZ, the audience participation series FANTASY, as well as 12 shows of the BIG BANDS FROM DISNEYLAND series for the Disney Channel. Peter is a singer who has performed with many big bands, including Tex Beneke and his Orchestra, the Les Brown Band and the Harry James Band.

THE NEWLYWED GAME's current host Carnie Wilson is a well-known singer, songwriter, actor and star of GSN's original series, CARNIE WILSON: UNSTAPLED. She is the daughter of legendary Beach Boys founder Brian Wilson and her pop group, Wilson Phillips, has sold more than 10 million albums and released three number-one hit singles.

THE NEWLYWED GAME is produced by Michael Davies and his production company, Embassy Row, which is owned by Sony Pictures Television. Davies has brought audiences fan-favorite shows such as "Who Wants To Be a Millionaire," "Power of 10," and the GSN original "Chain Reaction." Additionally, Sony Pictures Television serves as the worldwide distributor for THE NEWLYWED GAME.
